GEMS ART TEACHER’S WORKSHOP

The 2nd GEMS Art Teachers Workshop was held at The Millennium School, Dubai on the 7th of November, 2009. Art teachers from all GEMS schools participated. The event was sponsored by Camlin, India.

We were fortunate to have in our midst our sponsors Mr. Shyama Wani, Manager (International Operations) and Mrs. Neelima Deodhar, Manager (Creative Marketing) Camlin, India who gave off their time and expertise. Their generosity was evident as each participant was gifted an Art kit.

The workshop began with the Inaugural address by the Principal of the Millennium School, Mr. Michael Guzder. Each participant was presented a crystal memento from the host school. A meaningful presentation depicting paintings down the ages set the tone for the day.

The themes for the workshop ranged from “Hope” to “The Abstract”, “The Techno Savvy”, to “The Diverse Roles that a woman plays in Society”.

Mr. Sandeep Manchekar, Diploma holder of GD Art (Ceramics) from JJ School of Art, Mumbai, gave a demonstration in pottery making. This was both novel and innovative.

The evening culminated with a display of all the paintings and the artists’ statement.

The painting will be auctioned, proceeds of which will go towards a charitable cause.
